I'm a student at RIT. I like computers. I enjoy weird music. I'm a nice guy. This is my blog for stuff I liked, did, made, or thought.

DL The Droidduck (Video Mix) by Psilodump

Sorry about no post yesterday - it was “get out of college” day and I spent most of it crammed next to most of my stuff in the back seat of a station wagon. But, I’m here now, with a track from Psilodump’s latest EP that has me flipping out. This one is a condensed version of a track from his latest album, The Nya Albumet (Swedish for “The New Album”). All the insanity, two-thirds the time. This was apparently made for a music video by Raquel Meyers, which the C-men remixed (using a remixed version of this track, even).

This track? As you can tell within 15 seconds of starting it, it’s very random. It changes directions constantly, keeps you guessing, and is more or less impossible to pin down. If Room With No Exit 12” is an example of Psilodump’s diverse music styles, then The Droidduck (Video Edit) does more or less the same thing in about three minutes. It has everything: samples being manipulated in very weird ways, catchy yet dark melodies, a few square wave twerps, beats that alternate between spastic, driving, and non-existant, and complex sounds that keep grabbing your attention.

You really should get The Droidwhatever EP. Besides this track and the remix, the other two tracks are nice and dark with plenty of other fun samples, too. Also check out x-duMP3, the X-Dump netlabel for music that is dark, complex, and similar to this but doesn’t sound like this.

I am still pretty wiped from the move back home, by the way. It could also be because I’m manually resetting my sleeping schedule back to one that makes sense.
