DL Resources (Original) by Cryo & Checkpoint Charlie
I love squelchy basslines. I love pounding 4/4 rhythms. I love crazy syncopation. This song has all of them. It comes from yet another sadly defunct netlabel, Bevlar, which in addition to its main electronic label has a house sublabel Bevlar User. They’re fans of the “single + remixes” format for their releases, which means plenty of fun remixes for all of their tracks. That’s how I found out about Resources by Cryo & Checkpoint Charlie, it includes a tech house-ish remix by the ridiculously awesome Psilodump.
This song is hard-hitting. It combines loud bass and squelchy synths with a pumping beat and robotic vocals. It works really well, especially with the multiple basslines that spontaneously chop themselves up. The end result demands body movement and vigorous fist-pumping. It’s a 12”-style track, so wait until the second bassline comes in and hits you like a truck before you put your weight into it.
As I mentioned before, there are a ton of remixes for this track, ranging from various flavors of tech house, to an alternative electro mix, to nu italo disco. Check ‘em out.
